4 Effective Strategies to Stay on Track during any Celebration
March 20, 2021

An integral part to a happy and healthy life is enjoying yourself once in a while. Indulging a couple times may tempt you to break your newly found habits, but worry not! It’s all about taking everything in moderation and having a plan to follow. Here are four effective ways to stay on track during any birthday, event or celebration that may come your way!

1. Be mindful of your overall calorie intake

If you’re expecting a big meal at the end of the week, preparing your body is always a good strategy! The first step is to figure out your maintenance calories, or roughly how much you eat in a day.
Take note of all of your meals  and midday snacks. Once you have a good idea of all the food that you consume, slowly lower down your calories. It can be as small as removing a sugary drink or less rice during dinner.
For example, eating  200 calories less than normal each day for a week, will allow you to save up  1,000 calories in total. With these calories, you can have a larger celebration meal, without the guilt of overeating!

2. Make healthy swaps at every opportunity you can

There are so many healthy options to choose from when making a meal plan! Eating at home will already work in your advantage since you decide what goes into every meal that you cook.
A good place to start from is to look for low sodium swaps for sauces and condiments that you’ll use! It’s also good to have dishes that contain leaner meat and fish. These foods are higher in protein, which can help you get fuller, faster. REBEL Eats has a large variety of food you can try if you want something new or a healthy spin on an old classic like Healthy Fried Rice and Shrimp and Vegetable Stir Fry!

3. Stay hydrated

Staying hydrated is one of the most important things for anyone maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It helps the body flush out toxins, energize the muscles and maintain proper organ function. One of the effects of dehydration is mistaking thirst for hunger. When a person’s stomach grumbles, it is often mistaken for hunger, but it can actually be mild dehydration. This can be a great hindrance to weight loss as the body is tricked into thinking that you should eat more food, when in reality it’s a glass of water you need. A great way to prevent this is by setting daily reminders for when you should drink water and measuring your water intake!

4. Stick to your normal routine

Just because it’s a holiday doesn’t mean you should drop everything.. Stick to your habits, but give yourself a little room for flexibility. If you can, try to go for a morning workout instead of an evening one to free up your schedule for the festivities. If you really don’t have time for your usual workout regimen, try a quick workout from REBEL15 or a fun workout you can do with the family like a KPop Dance from the REBEL Reinvention Challenge! Just give yourself the opportunity to move in the day and that’s fine!

In the end, working on a healthier version of yourself is a lifelong process. One bad day or bad week won’t ruin all the progress you’ve made so far. Give yourself a break and let yourself enjoy this holiday guilt free. Just remember to go back to why you started your fitness journey in the first place, and the motivation and consistency will follow!
